'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Galbraith renews clash with City.

Ethan Galbraith grins broadly as he recalls the nail-biting closing stages of Swansea's stunning fightback win against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. The game culminated with Galbraith temporarily wearing a fan's glasses after the pitch-side pile-on.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith cracked the upright with a speculative strike from distance, and Cameron Burgess immediately hammered in the deflection before sprinting toward the crowd to revel in the moment, with supporters swarming the players.

Remarkable Recovery

The victory sealed an incredible comeback given the Welsh side had found themselves down 2-0 during the final 45 minutes. In the euphoria, there was some minor mishaps. The midfielder recalled, "There was a fan shouting out and we were puzzled: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're humans, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

The victory secured a fourth-round fixture at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, a club Galbraith came close against at the comparable phase of the FA Cup with the London side in February. He had a prime vantage point when the underdogs took the lead in stunning style, with a teammate's volley from about 45 yards going in via the crossbar and the Stefan Ortega. Many argued that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've awarded it to him for attempting the shot from that distance," says Galbraith, who began the game centrally before switching to right wing-back after Orient changed formation. That meant getting to grips with Jack Grealish, with whom he traded tops, and the winger was among the City players who praised the way Orient attacked the game.

City's Quality

"Physically they are exceptional but even the fundamentals and basic skills, they can just do it over and over again," the midfielder notes. "It appears that they never miss a pass and they are adept at manage and slow down a game. You can think you're holding your own and then abruptly they will just deliver a through ball through a line without you even noticing. You have to be switched on throughout of the game. It demands a resilient mindset and focus just to stay in the game."

Welsh Transition

Swansea pushed to sign Galbraith in January and secured his signature to sign him in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He established himself as a fans' favourite across a couple of years at his former club and has rapidly replicated that in Wales. At his previous team he reunited with the coach, who earlier gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in first-team action on loan at his loan club from Old Trafford. Then came a temporary move at League Two Salford City, before he departed Old Trafford.

Development Path

"I was perhaps a somewhat inexperienced going into professional soccer. I think numerous professionals would say youth team games is very different. Sometimes it appears the ball is moved without serious challenge. There's not many physical contests. Once you start playing men's games you have to adapt rapidly."

Country Call-ups

He has shown that growth for his team and nation, performing well for the Green and White Army, who remain in contention for the international competition next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has started the last several matches, including home and away games against the German national team. His former international manager, Galbraith's former international manager, paid him the ultimate compliment, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he handles the football and his ability to spot a decisive through ball.

Humble Beginnings

This represents quite the ride for the player from the neighborhood in his hometown, just outside the capital, who grew up watching his dad, Stuart, also a engine room operator, play for his father's team.

Old Trafford Memory

Galbraith's only game for United came in Central Asia in 2019, a Europa League trip to Astana, where they featured on an artificial pitch and the venue ceiling was closed owing to the weather of freezing cold. "It was a lengthy journey and it was cold out there," he recalls, chuckling. "The preceding week, several youth players and I trained together, so that assisted our preparation. Just to join the main group and get a couple of minutes at the end was incredible."

Moving On

What was the challenge was it to depart Manchester United, the club he transferred from aged 16? "It was relatively straightforward, because I reached the point where I knew I wouldn't break through at first-team level. I'm hugely grateful for the time I spent there but it got to the point where I felt I had to take a different path, join a smaller club and play first-team games. Now I'm gradually working my way back up."

New Environment

This occurs during mid-afternoon at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has somewhere to be at late afternoon: a road rules assessment, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Before his recent move to Sketty, the mid-twenties player was a regular in Swansea's dubbed player transport, a minibus driven by club employees, the transport team, which shuttles players to and from training and matches.

"I travel with a teammate, the Brazilian, Malick Yalcouyé – Melker Widell used to be in it but has started driving. It's enjoyable to socialize with the guys but I'm planning to be the following person out of the minibus and on the road. The Portuguese player likes to pull a few pranks; he's always up to all sorts."

Public Engagement

While playing for his former club, Galbraith would blend in with followers on London's Central line after commuting at Brentwood. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
